Two killed when car made U-turn after police chase on I-95 in Richmond

Two people were killed after a car crash on Tuesday evening in Richmond, Virginia.

The crash took place when a man from Richmond was being pursued by police on Interstate 95 near Emporia.

The driver made a U-turn on an exit ramp and drove south in the northbound lanes before his car crashed head-on with another vehicle.

The driver of the suspect’s vehicle, identified as Jermaine Ricardo Bernard, 30, and his female passenger were both taken out from Bernard’s 2018 BMW.

Bernard was flown to VCU Medical Center, while his female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another car in the crash was a 2011 Lincoln Continental who’s driver was admitted to Emporia Hospital and then flown to VCU Medical Center. His passenger, identified as Melissa R. Dorsett, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emporia police is investigating the crash.
