No, we are not making a joke right here. What the title says is actually true. One of the luxury automotive marquees from Germany, Audi, has decided to launch a vehicle that has a rice cooker built into it. Well, everyone, get ready to welcome the latest generation Audi A8 5.5!
Speaking of the rice cooker that Audi has integrated into the cabin of its latest A8 model, it has something to do with the name of the car. The car gets its ‘5.5’ moniker from the Japanese term ‘gohan’. It is this term that makes up the 5.5 moniker, consisting of the terms 5 (go) and 0.5 (han). For your information, in Japanese, ‘gohan’ means rice. The rice cooker is mounted on the back of the center console.
According to the German automaker, the built-in rice cooker will cook what it calls the perfect rice, making the company’s full-size sedan even more luxurious. The German company claims that the perfect rice produced by the built-in rice cooker will come from an intense heat conviction that comes from the inside of the Hagama rice cooking pot that is made in Japan.
In addition to that, owners of the vehicle will also be able to choose from a host of cooking options from a built-in touchscreen menu panel. The car will even have an integrated rice paddle that has the Audi badging on it. The latter, however, will be available for a limited time period only.
So far, Audi has not made clear how much the car will cost when it finally goes on sale. However, one thing is for sure. The Audi A8 5.5 will be available for the Japanese market only, hence it is named after the Japanese word ‘gohan’, or rice.
