Woman dead after car crashes into Jacksonville retention pond

Traffic homicide detectives are working to figure out what caused a woman’s car to veer off the road and struck into a retention pond in Jacksonville, Florida on Wednesday night.

A representative for JSO said officers were dispatched right after 11 p.m. for the vehicle crash near Vantage Way South and International Parkway.

When officers attended the scene, they discovered a car submerged in a retention pond but no sign of the driver. The dive team was called and a woman’s body was found.

The vehicle has since been taken out of the pond and no one else was discovered inside the vehicle. No information about the woman’s identity was immediately released.

Detectives at not sure as of yet that what caused the crash but are asking for any witnesses to come forward by calling 904-630-0500 if they have details about the incident.
