A Dutch auto producer has made flying cars commercially available.
PAL-V has developed the Liberty Sport and Liberty Pioneer, a set of two-person three-wheelers efficient in flying at speeds of approximately 112mph.
The Sport is the more affordable of the two, with the base model beginning at $400,000. The Pioneer, on the other hand, is available in $600,000.
That additional cash gets purchasers training sessions, power heating and an electronic flight instrument display.
Prospective purchasers that can’t afford for to lay that sort of cash down up-front can rather drop a non-refundable deposit of $25,000 for the Pioneer, or $10,000 for the Sport.
Both versions of the Liberty utilize a retractable rotor blade and a set of engines, one that’s utilized for driving, the other for flying.
On the ground, the Liberty can move at a top speed of 100mph, can go from 0-62mph in nine seconds, and has a variety of 817 miles and fuel performance of 31mpg.
PAL-V states it takes 10 minutes to change from driving to flying mode and, in the air, you’ll get 310 miles from a complete tank.
“After years of effort, beating the technical and qualification obstacles, our team was successful in producing an innovative flying car that adheres to present security standards determined by regulative bodies worldwide,” stated Robert Dingemanse, CEO of PAL-V.
Sadly, they won’t begin delivering for a while yet, with first deliveries of the Liberty set up for the end of 2018.
