2 dead, 1 injured after car crash in Darke County

Two people were killed and two others were killed in a car crash at the intersection of Hunter Road and state Route 49 in Darke County, Ohio on Thursday morning.

Victims identified as Harold Evans, 86, of Fort Recovery, and Coty Alterman, 27, of Troy, were both killed in the crash.

The crash took place when Alterman was driving a car west on Hunter Road and he failed to yield to a van going south on State Route 49 at about 8 a.m.

The crash resulted in both the van and car getting off the road. Evans was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alderman and the driver of the van, Rex Zizelman, 74, of Celina, were admitted to Miami Valley Hospital.

Alderman succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

A passenger in the van, identified as Roxine Beals, 53, of Celina was admitted to Miami Valley Hospital. She is listed in stable condition.

Darke County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.
