Two people were killed and the other three were injured after a car fled a traffic stop and caused a crash on Thursday evening in Palmetto Bay, Florida.
The incident took place at around 6 p.m. near U.S. 1 and 152nd Street.
The officers tried to conduct a traffic stop of a driver who was driving in a white Lexus in the area of 172nd Street and U.S. 1.
The Lexus fled northbound on U.S. 1, where officers lost sight of the car.
After that, the Lexus crossed the intersection, it struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as a 43-year-old woman Amy Whitelock, and a 23-year-old occupant of Lexus identified as Tyrese Grace, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Three occupants of the Lexus were hospitalized.
The lanes on U.S. 1 between SW 148 Street and 155 Street were closed in both directions following the crash.
