2 killed after vehicle fire on I-77 northbound in Charlotte

Two people died after a vehicle fire on Interstate 77 northbound in Charlotte on Sunday morning.

Officials said the crash took place around 2:40 a.m. near West Trade Street.

Officials also confirmed two people were killed in the vehicle fire.

The road was also closed for a few hours while Highway Patrol conducted an investigation.

The identities of the victims were not released.
