Eight Audi models now have the Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System featuring in them. The latest Audi model to have this audio system is the A6. The A7 Sportback and the A8 models from Audi appear to have been the main inspiration for the new Advanced Sound System being fitted on the A6 model. The system has an organic petal-and-leaf loudspeaker grille design with the largest front door grilles ever produced by Bang & Olufsen being fitted on the A6 models.
The grilles in the A6 model have a metal look platinum color and are made up of polished and anodized aluminum. Two acoustic lenses rise silently from the dashboard in line with the windshield once the system is activated. 1,330 watts of power sent to 15 high end loudspeakers by the ICE power amplifier makes up the sound system. A separate Digital Signal Processor (DSP), which controls equalization, audio mixing and the different sound modes, like the exclusive Movie Mode is also part of the audio system in the A6.
A cinematic experience is offered with the use of Bang & Olufsen’s patented True Mix Algorithm. This technology helps the DSP transform 5.1 channel surround sound from a video DVD and use all 15 of the system’s high end loudspeakers. Sound engineers from Bang & Olufsen worked in conjunction with Audi experts for 300 hours to be able to develop this latest audio system. The unique acoustics that the Audi interior features has been used to fine tune the output generated by the sound system.
