Jaguar has recently changed ownership from Ford to Tata Motor of India and then came out with the XF being the latest design since this change of ownership. The car debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007 and then the market launch took place in 2008. Three years have gone by and now a facelift version of the car is being prepared for a world premiere at the New York Auto Show scheduled for next month.
There would be a new front fascia as well as a redesigned front grille with reshaped bumper and new lights. Interestingly, the uplift work makes the car to look much like a C-XF Concept model. There would also be the upgrade to the interior as well with new technology systems and the suspension would be upgraded to provide improved riding experience.
For engine the car would come with a 2.2 liter four cylinder turbo diesel engine. This same engine is found fitted on the Land Rover Freelander made by Ford as well as on the Ford Mondeo model that plies the European roads. Some changes to the engine however had to be carried out for alignment aspects as the XF is a rear wheel drive.
Among other things, the 2.2 liter unit features a water cooled turbocharger with low friction pistons, new injectors and a new crankshaft, while Jaguar also added a new Stop-Start system, which is estimated to further increase overall fuel efficiency between five and seven per cent.
Power output of the engine is 190 hp and 332 lb ft torque and as per Jaguar the fuel consumption is 52.3 mpg per UK standards which is 43.5 mpg in US and 5.4 liter per 100 km. CO2 emission limits are 149 g/km.
Transmission is carried out though an eight speed new ZF automatic gearbox. Acceleration factor of the car reads as 8.5 seconds for the 0 to 62 mph or 100 kmph sprint. Top speed of the car is 140 mph or 225 kmph.
More details of the car would be available by mid-April.
