The days are passing and we move forward to the moment Mercedes-Benz takes the wraps off the sixth generation SL-Klasse. The latest model from Mercedes, 2012 SL, is set to debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, in September.
It seems the engineers from Mercedes are working hard to make this new model ready for the official unveiling this fall and we can see the results in the latest spy pics.
Of course, the official debut wouldn’t be possible with a few kilos of camouflage, but now the whole situation is a bit different than the last we got the chance to see it. In the latest photos this new models seems to be more prepared for debut. As we approach the debut, the car make its appearance with less and less camouflage.
The spy photographers from Autoevolution have managed to snap a new set of photos of the prototype with some of the camouflage dropping away, so that we can get a better look at the next SL’s overall shape.
An interesting thing is that Autoevolution’s spy photographers say that the SL was in a group of vehicles which included an Aston Martin Vantage Roadster and a Jaguar XK, likely for benchmarking purposes.
So far no official details about this car were released, so we’ll have to settle with the little we know about it.
Isn’t yet for sure, but the SL will likely be lighter than its predecessor, with extensive use of carbon-fibre components and reinforced plastics. Beside this, it will feature an array of Benz power plants including a new 3.5-litre V6 and a 4.6-litre twin-turbo V8.
