Cadillac has officially unveiled the 2014 ELR which is slated to go into production this year.

The ELR is basically a production version of the 2009 Conver and uses a twisted version of the Volt’s engine with an modified T-shaped 16.5 kWh lithium-ion battery which allows the car to travel up to 35 miles (56 km) in electric mode. The vehicle can provide a choice of more than 300 miles (480 km).

Placed at the centre of the car, the battery pack weighs 435 lbs (198 kg) and is 5.5-foot-long (1.6m).
It takes 4.5 hours to fully charge the battery using a 240V outlet, while with at a 120V outlet it will take about 12 hours. The battery comes with an 8-year / 100,000-mile warranty.

The engine is a 1.4-liter gasoline unit which enables the sleek two-door coupe to provide a combined output of 207 hp (154 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). It can travel from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in around eight seconds, making it about a second faster than the Volt. Topping at 100 mph (161 km/h).

On the inside the cabin shows a luxurious 2+2 layout with leather-trimmed upholstery mixed with wood and chrome accents. A carbon fiber trim is also there along with Opus semi-aniline leather seating and a suede microfiber headliner. It comes with a driver information display, LED accent lighting, fold-down rear seats and an auto-glide/power assisted covered storage/cup holder.

That’s it and now let us enjoy browsing the pictures.
