Porsche has unveiled the new 911 Turbo and Turbo S Cabriolet on the net ahead of their public debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show scheduled to take place in November.
The design of both cars very much resembles the Coupe version but can be distinguished with an updated retractable fabric roof which boasts a lightweight magnesium frame. The company claims that this technology has permitted the cabrio to maintain a coupe-like arch to the roof when the top is closed. The roof can be opened or closed in approximately 13 seconds at speeds of up to 30 mph.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet comes fitted with a 3.8-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 520 HP (383 kW). The more powerful S version also comes with same engine but has been tuned to generate 560 HP (412 kW) which allows the car to accelerate to 0-60 mph (0-96 kmph) in just 3.1 seconds, making it 0.2s quicker than the regular version. Both versions can it a top speed of 195 mph (314 kmph) and will have a fuel economy of 17 mpg city / 24 mpg highway.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet will come with a base price of 160,700 USD while the Turbo S Cabriolet will be starting from 193,900 USD, both excluding destination charges.
