The luxury German automaker, BMW, is known to be working hard trying to prepare another variant of its 2-Series vehicle lineups. This time, the vehicle will reportedly be able to seat seven passengers altogether. Now, some people have actually managed to catch the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer on camera as the car undergoes winter testing.
Unlike other typical vehicle lineups from BMW, the new 2-Series Active Tourer will be coming with seven seats altogether and it will see its power delivered to the front wheels. Needless to say, this is more than likely to disappoint pure fans of the BMW brand. In addition to that, this upcoming multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) from the German marquee will be offered with a 3-cylinder engine. As if those are not upsetting enough already for pure BMW fans out there, the car will even sport a boxy shape that really does not represent a car worthy of wearing the BMW emblem on it.
These new spy shots that depict the car undergoing winter testing confirm that the upcoming BMW 2-Series Active Tourer will have a larger body dimension when compared to the standard BMW 2-Series Active Tourer that seats five instead of seven passengers. The larger body, as can be easily expected, is to enable the car to have two additional seats, which will only suit children, it seems.
Did we mention earlier that the car is going to come with a 3-cylinder engine? Well, this will be a 1.5L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine from the vehicle’s standard variant counterpart. A 2.0L motor will be available, too. For select models, customers will be eligible for the company’s xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain and it is expected that an AWD plug-in hybrid variant will come out as well sometime in the future.
This 7-seater BMW 2-Series Active Tourer vehicle model is most likely to make its world debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March 2015.
