A man found dead on a Los Angeles County street, California, was most likely beaten and then intentionally run over with his own car following a traffic collision, officials said.
The attack took place around 5:40 a.m. Sunday on Laurel Park Road, a street in a light-industrial location in the unincorporated Rancho Dominguez neighborhood.
Deputies at the Carson station got a call reporting an assault following a traffic accident. They arrived to discover a 67-year-old man dead at the scene.
Witnesses reportedly said that the man had been in a crash, most likely caused by road rage. He and the other driver had left their vehicles — a Toyota Prius and a Cadillac coupe — and started to argue which then turned into a physical fight.
The other driver beat the victim, then got into the car of the victim and used it for running it over the man repeatedly, the sheriff’s report said.
After the victim’s vehicle became disabled, the assailant fled from the scene on foot.
A suspect was found in the neighborhood who has been was identified by a witness and was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The sheriff’s office did not mention either party or provide any other details of the incident.
