Two people were killed and three others were seriously injured following a car crash on Interstate 55 in McLean County, Illinois.
The five-vehicle crash happened before 4 p.m. Friday close to mile marker 151, south of Shirley.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and another person succumbed to injuries at the hospital after being taken from the scene by a medical helicopter.
Three other people were hospitalized due to life-threatening injuries.
I-55 southbound was shut during the emergency response and investigation, with vehicles directed off at Exit 154.
All lanes were resumed by 12:39 a.m. Saturday.
Illinois State Police investigated the crash.
