Audi announced on Wednesday that it will invest 100 million reais ($19.22 million) to resume production at its plant in Parana, Brazil, according to plans revealed in 2021.
Initially, the plant will have a maximum production capacity of 4,000 vehicles annually, the automaker said.
At this plant, the automaker will assemble the Audi Q3 and Audi Q3 Sportsback models. At the start, it will be only for the Brazilian market.
Audi stopped operations at the assembly line in 2020, following the end of the production cycle for its previous version of the Q3 SUV. In November, Audi’s parent Volkswagen suspended production in the complex because of a lack of electric components.
