Volkswagen Group’s premium Audi department produced almost 100,000 fewer engines at its huge factory in the western Hungarian town of Gyor in 2016, while automobile output there also fell, the automaker stated.
Audi is among Hungary’s biggest exporters and earners and the company explains the Gyor engine plant as the world’s largest, supplying over 30 Volkswagen Group sites.
Audi’s weaker output assists describe a weak 0.9 percent increase in Hungarian commercial output in 2016, and a downturn in economic growth to 2 percent.
Audi stated output at Gyor dropped to 1.93 million engines in 2016 from 2.02 million per year earlier.
Car output at Gyor likewise dropped, Audi stated, to 122,975 units from 159,842 a year previously. It stated earnings at Gyor was up to 7.14 billion euros from 7.91 billion.
The automaker did not elaborate on factors for the decline in output however explained 2016 as a year loaded with difficulties.
