If you are waiting for further details in respect to the next generation A8 from the luxury German automaker, Audi, well, you are in for a treat as some Audi executives have shed some light on the model. The company is reportedly working on the 2016 model year Audi A8 and the vehicle is most likely to feature semi-autonomous driving technology.
As pointed out by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, the chief at Audi Research and Development division, to the Autoweek, the semi-autonomous 2016 Audi A8 is only inches to the production phase. In addition to that, he also mentions that the car may well have arrived by the end of 2016. So far, however, that most responsible man at the German company’s research and development division has yet to provide further details in respect to the upcoming, next generation A8. Yet, based on the reports published by a number of media out there, the upcoming luxury sedan from Audi will have the ability to drive itself as long as the speed does not go beyond 60 km/h. In addition to that, the luxury German sedan will also be capable of parking itself after locating an available parking spot wide enough for it to park.
Well, there is no need to say that 60 km/h is not too much of a speed. However, according to Scott Keogh, President Audi of America, 60 km/h is not so slow at all. After all, if we take into account daily city commute, most usually happens at a speed that is considerably slow.
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg also claims that the speed mark of 60 km/h will just be a start for the German company. He claims that Audi will add even more features to the 2016 A8 in the future. Although the company can’t promise to offer a fully automated vehicle, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg claims that the company will at least offer a semi-autonomous driving mode that works even at a high speed.
