Behold the BMW M4 Concept Iconic Lights at CES!

About a week earlier, the luxury German automaker, made an announcement that it would be bringing new lighting technology to the 2015 CES event. Well, the German company has actually done it. It has officially unveiled the M4 Concept Iconic Lights at the highly anticipated exhibition event that is taking place in Las Vegas, US. Well, it seems like this will be the company’s new favorite laser headlamps after the ones installed on the BMW i8. Speaking of the i8, it was the very first vehicle model that the Bavarian company has ever offered with laser headlamps, albeit being an optional feature.

Compared to the laser lighting technology that BMW has installed on its i8 model, the new one it is introducing is far more advanced. This time around, the Bavarian automotive brand is trying to offer a whole brand new generation of high beam laser headlamps. The company claims that these new laser headlamps will be able to illuminate up to 600 meters of road ahead. The new laser headlamps will always be turned on and will also feature anti dazzling system. According to BMW, this will prevent both oncoming vehicles as well as preceding ones from being blinded by the company’s new laser headlamps.

The BMW M4 Concept Iconic Lights vehicle model that is currently on display at the 2015 CES event comes wrapped in a metallic paint job that BMW calls the Cool White. In addition to that, the vehicle also sports OLED taillights. BMW claims that these taillights will be able to produce light out of organic materials arranged in a number of semiconducting layers that are as thin as water itself. It turns out that the turn signals of the vehicle use the same lighting technology. This will be the first time that an automaker uses OLED for both the taillights and turn signals of its vehicles. What is even more amazing is that these OLED lights are just 1.4 mm thick.

As reported by the BMWBLOG, customers can expect to drive home the first BMW vehicle that features these OLED lights and the company’s new laser headlamps starting from 2016.
