An image of a new vehicle model from the Japanese automaker, Honda, has been caught on camera and it depicts the S660 in its final production body. The car was photographed at a harbor in Japan as it was getting ready for shipment to dealerships. Judging by the images, it seems that it won’t be long before customers will be able to finally enjoy what the Honda S660 can offer.
If you remember correctly, back in November two years earlier, the Japanese company introduced a new kei car model. The car made its debut at the recent Tokyo Motor Show and it has now even grown into a commercial production car. Looking at the visual design of the final production version of the model, it is a relief that the Japanese automaker has managed to retain most of the design featured on the concept version of the model. Yet, the final version bears a smaller set of wheels, lighting clusters that are toned down a bit and also a cabin design that is more common rather than one as radical as what previewed by the concept.
For its mobility, the car packs a 660cc 3-cylinder turbo engine. This engine delivers 64 HP of power and 104 Nm of torque, enabling the car to reach a top speed of no less than 140 km/h. The car will reportedly come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as a standard and a CVT gearbox as an option.
Unfortunately, however, the Honda S660 is bound for sale on the Japanese market alone. Nonetheless, rumor has it, the Japanese marquee is also working on an even more powerful variant that will be offered for the global market. The latter will reportedly be known as the S1000 and it will have a turbocharged 1.0L engine. This engine will give the car 140 HP of power in total. The car could be coming next year and Honda may collaborate with Mugen for the development of the model. In addition to the S1000, an electric variant is even rumored to be in the work. Nonetheless, none of these rumors has either been confirmed or denied by Honda so far.
