BMW 1-Series Coupe & Convertible phased out

BMW has quietly and finally stopped the production of the 1-Series Coupe and Convertible. While the 1-Series Convertible was phased out in June this year, the last 1-Series Coupe rolled off the assembly line in August.

The news is not very surprising as models will be replaced by a next-gen and better 2-Series Coupe and Convertible. The Coupe is expected to go on sale in March next year, while the Convertible is expected to arrive shortly thereafter, though the official dates have not been confirmed yet.

The specifications which were leaked some time back have shown that the models will be offered with at least three different engines that include:
• A 2.0-liter petrol engine rated at 183 HP (135 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque
• A 2.0-liter diesel mill outputting 183 HP (135 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque
• A 3.0-liter inline-six engine with highest output of 326 HP (240 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque

The latter model, the M235i, will be able to achieve the 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) sprint in 4.8 seconds and will be able to hit a top speed of 250 kmph (155 mph).
