BMW M2 to Receive Dual Clutch Transmission

Some reports have emerged onto the World Wide Web, indicating that the luxury German automaker, BMW, may well be giving its M2 model a dual clutch transmission system. Reports about this have come up after a spy shot of the car reveals the driver of the test mule of the model operating the vehicle’s transmission by means of the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.

Furthermore, the BMW Blog reports that these paddle shifters seem to have a similar size to those of the company’s new M3 and M4 models. With that being said, chances are, the company’s M2 are also receiving a 7-speed dual clutch transmission system. If this is the case, this will deny previous rumors which mentions that the car will be coming with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission system instead.

However, for customers that prefer to use a manual transmission, they will be covered as well. According to the most recent reports, the luxury German automaker will also make available an M2 variant that comes with a manual instead of automatic gearbox. Yet, it is still a mystery whether this manual transmission variant of the model will be available globally or only on certain regions of the globe.

Yet, when it comes to the mobility of the vehicle, the new BMW M2 will be coming with the company’s next generation 3.0L 6-cylinder engine that is accompanied by twin turbochargers. To be known as the S57 B30, the engine is expected to deliver a total power output of 370 HP.

For those who can hardly wait for the German marquee’s BMW M2 to make its debut, they may as well pay attention to the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show event, an automotive exhibition event which is expected to kick off September this year.
