It was the general public who threw question at Buick Product Marketing Director Roger McCormack and replied by him. The event was a live interaction through GM’s official blog held earlier this week. Plans of Buick coming up with new models in the near future in order to cater for the expanding US market was revealed by the Marketing Director in the course of the interaction.
There is the crossover model which has already been confirmed. There was the idea of the coupe also that is under consideration as per McCormack. He also mentioned about the convertible which would have either a soft top or a retractable hard top. There were also the station wagon plans that he mentioned about.
To a query from a member regarding the possibility of Buick coming out with a coupe model, McCormack confirmed the same.
On the issue of a drop top model McCormack replied “We are always looking for ways to excite our customers…I think a convertible would do just that. Nothing to announce today but know we will look hard at a convertible option.”
He winded up the interaction by stating “As we mentioned, we are looking at all options…a coupe, convertible, a wagon, a retractable hardtop and more…we don’t know right now which direction we’ll go. We think the Buick brand can stretch in a lot of directions.”
Not at all surprising that there was no mention of specific details of any of the future cars to come from Buick. It can therefore be only assumed that all the car models he mentioned would be either based on the Regal or the Opel Astra. There is a chance of the sedan version of this car coming up in the States by next year.
