The annual Cruz car show on the Port Orchard Waterfront is the recent significant summer event canceled because of coronavirus.
“The Saints Car Club of Port Orchard has made the difficult decision to postpone ‘CRUZ 2020’ until August 8, 2021,” the club declared Tuesday.
Organizers mentioned public health concerns related to coronavirus together with concerns over the economic climate and its impact on sponsors as the cause behind the cancellation.
The classic car show, which has been held for the last 32 years in downtown Port Orchard, draws over 12,000 people annually. On display are over 600 cars, trucks and motorcycles lovingly restored by members and other classic car buffs. The club asserts it is “the largest single one-day event on the Kitsap Peninsula”.
“Thanks for you for your support these past 33 years,” the club stated in a news release. “The Saints Car Club looks forward to your presence at the ‘CRUZ 2021.’ Stay safe and Stay healthy. We’re all in this together.”
About 1,910,843 people in the US have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed 109,639 people in the country.
