A driver who smashed her Mercedes into a plumbing technician’s vehicle after a showdown on a slim bridge was spared jail after a court heard she had actually been sacked after the incident.
Care company employee Caroline Hamer, 37, was found guilty of the road rage attack after she chose not to pull back over the way on the river bridge with John Gooding.
Mr Gooding, 33, called her a “stupid cow” in the stand-off at the slim road where just one automobile could get by.
Hamer then drove her black sports design Mercedes at more than 70 mph prior to crashing into the back of the Mr Gooding’s silver Fiesta taking his family to a barbecue.
Cardiff Crown Court heard how the 2 drivers were in stand off over the bridge road which was just broad enough for one automobile to pass.
Mr Gooding stated he stopped prior to a narrow part of a minor road because he saw a Mercedes coming towards him “at speed” and with no indication of stopping.
Judge Jonathan Furness informed Hamer that “You were taking a trip at 70mph down a dual carriageway at a distance that was less than a metre from the vehicle in front of you. It caused the gentleman in front of you to hang back.”
Hamer, of Pontypool, was sentenced to three months in jail suspended for a year.
Judge Furness also disqualified her from driving for one year and informed her she should take extended driving tests after the ban.
She was likewise ordered to pay a victim additional charge of £ 80.
