Elio Motors, Inc. the start-up automobile maker preparing to release a three-wheeled vehicle that will stand up to 84 mpg and with a targeted base rate of $6,800, has partnered with digital media business, Onion, Inc., for a politically ‘driven’ digital media campaign preceeding the 2016 election.
As America’s Finest News Source, The Onion is known for its equal-opportunity satire, poking fun at both sides of the political spectrum. With the governmental election looming, The Onion was the ideally suitable for Elio Motors’ bipartisan message.
The marketing campaign, established by Onion, Inc.’s innovative services department Onion Labs, consists of custom social infographics, election-inspired video, in addition to targeted media surrounding The Onion’s political content, which will run from June to November.

Good to hear, I love the Onion and also the Elio. I can’t wait to drive my own. They make a great pair!
I’ve been a full-in supporter and investor of the Elio since the beginning but now find my patience wearing thin indeed. After numerous promises of delivery dates haveing come and gone, including the promise that those with reservation numbers would be the FIRST to receive their cars, only to hear that we must now wait even longer since the first 1000 will go to fleet dealers, one wonders whether this ‘campaign’ is dying, or already dead.
This car is a game changer in many ways and the LOW price is a part of that with affordability being a big part.
The 84 MPG makes this racing design engine makes looking for a plug in a time and money saver.
I know I can bring this motor to well above 100 MPG with simple proven friction reducers.
A fun car when riding with your biker friends while being safe and comfortable.
George, I understand your frustration. I love the Elio concept but have been very skeptical that a start-up company could manufacture a 900cc 3-wheeled vehicle with standard features that include AC, Heat, cruise control, locking doors, tempered power windows, airbags, a roll cage, seat belts, windshield wipers, stability control, and ABS. for less than the price of a 300 cc scooter made by an established manufacturer like Honda.
I don’t know whether Paul Elio is a magician, a delusional dreamer-scheamer or a gifted con-artist but I don’t expect to ever see his vehicles being sold.
