Former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler, a four-time Academic All-American who ranks amongst the leading punters in school history, passed away in a single-car mishap in Wisconsin Saturday night, police stated. He was 24 years old.
Nebraska senior punter Sam Foltz, the ruling Big 10 punter of the year, was also killed in the crash that took place in Merton, Wisconsin, as per the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department. They were working at a kicking camp during the weekend in Wisconsin.
Authorities stated Sadler was the driver and speed seemed a factor in the crash. Sadler was noticeable dead at the scene, as was Foltz, 22, who is from Greeley, Nebraska.
A 2nd traveler, LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye, 21, of New Iberia, Louisiana, was carried by ambulance to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for treatment. On Sunday he was released.
Police stated the car was taking a trip westbound on Beaver Lake Road in Merton, lost control on wet pavement, left the roadway and struck a tree.
The accident that took place at about 11:45 p.m., is still under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
