The Japanese automobile maker has had a variety of successful bikes in the market. But one of the most popular two-wheeler was the Hornet or the CB600F. It was rumored that the bike has been taken off the showrooms for good. But according to company sources, the model is just undergoing a restful year. The bike can be expected back in showrooms and roads by 2015. The 2015 model might just be unveiled this year in Milan during the motorcycle show during the fall. If the model is showcased in EICMA this year, a much improved Hornet is expected. There is no clarity on what changes will be incorporated, but suffice to say that the new version will provide a good competition to the other muscled bikes in the segment.
It was earlier expected that the Hornet or CB600F was replaced by the new entrant CB650F. Now, the sources from Italy have revealed that the popular model CB600F is not being replaced but is rested. It does make sense to keep the model as it has good popularity in the peninsula. As the competition is also gearing up to introduce new models with higher displacement capacities, it would not be surprising if Honda comes up with a Hornet with higher displacement. It is expected that KTM is planning to unveil a new model this summer. There is already a good competition in the middle weight bike section. Suzuki is flaunting its GSR750 and Yamaha too has a solid presence in this segment.
Yamaha gives the consumers a choice between MT-07 and MT-09. With all these bikes slotting a place in the middle segment, it has to be seen how well a new Honda offering will be received. Will the new version of Hornet take its success to a new level? There is no choice but to wait and watch.
