Right before its official release at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the most anticipated Ferrari F12 GTO has been unofficially unveiled at a private configurator, available only for Ferrari customers. As we all know this hasn’t been the first time leaks like these have been released, for example the 458 Speciale Aperta was also unofficially leaked. The design cues suggest an inspiration from the legendary 250 GTO which would’t be surprising given that the new F12 GTO would want to follow its lineage, however official confirmation from Ferrari is pending. Pictures from the configurator depict a new front bumper with an oval grille that pays a discreet homage to the 250 GTO, two vents in the hood and heritage-laced air vents integraed into the rear quarter panels.
Word in town is that the F12 GTO would have an output of 800 PS (588kW) from a V12 6.3 liter engine which would naturally work with a HY-KERS system adapted from the LaFerrari. Rumor is that the F12 GTO would also slash-off some of its weight by around 100 kg so we can expect major aerodynamic changes with lighter, and faster performance. The official release date of the F12 GTO is somewhere in mid-September at the Frankfur Motor Show. The production of the F12 GTO is said to be limited at just 650 units worldwide and is said to be priced more than the $320,000 F12 Berlinetta.
