The 2014 Sao Paolo Auto Show has been treating automotive enthusiasts and journalists alike with some pretty cool cars for the last few days. Things have been going fine so far, or so it seems. However, a very unexpected and bizarre incident took place during the automotive exhibition event recently. Although this may sound rather unbelievable, a Fiat 500C happened to fall off its display platform which, unfortunately, was made of glass. So, as you can guess, the glass platform crashed into pieces.
Unfortunately, at the moment the incident happened, no one seemed to be turning on their camera. As a result, there is no video footage available so far. Nonetheless, there are actually some images that were captured soon after the car fell through its glass display platform. Judging by the images, the incident could have seriously injured visitors to the event or the local media reporters covering the event. Yet, fortunately enough, the display platform was nowhere close to the reporters or visitors so no one was harmed.
As it turned out, the display platform on which the Fiat 500C was previously standing was actually made of glass paired with aluminum tubes. The platform was a rotating one, making it possible for visitors and reporters alike to view the car from all sides of it by just standing at one particular spot. Unfortunately, it seems quite likely that it is the vibration originating from the rotating mechanism that has caused the glass to break down.
Well, it seems that this will damage the car’s image even more. Even without the incident, the 500C from Fiat is not quite a successful model. More amusingly, the car is actually pretty light, weighing in at less than 1 ton, 0.9 tons to be exact. Taking that into consideration, the incident must have gone much worse if it was a BMW X5 or the likes that was actually standing on that glass display platform at the Sao Paolo Auto Show.
