Four dead after truck and van crash near Ashburton in New Zealand

The vehicle crash between a truck and a van took place at the intersection of Cochranes and Wakanui roads in Elgin just before 10 am on Friday.

The crash resulted in death of 4 people.

Officials said three people were pronounced dead at the scene and another person died at Ashburton Hospital.

The driver of the truck had mild injuries and admitted to hospital for receiving treatment.

A person from the van was in a critical condition and another person was going through serious injuries.

The area is known for having unfavorable weather condition such as flood and heavy rain.
