Three killed after vehicle crash on North Island roads

One person was killed after a car crash on Wellington’s Remutaka Hill in New Zealand.

The crash took place north of the summit at around 6.30 am on Sunday morning.

SH2 was closed due to the crash.

In Waikato, a motorcycle crashed with the barrier on Ruapehu Street in Ātiamuri, north of Taupō, just before 9 pm last night.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another crash involving two automobiles took place at around 10:40 pm on Acacia Bay Road in Taupō.

Police said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and another one was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition.

Both crashes are being investigated.

Ruapehu Street and Acacia Bay Road have been resumed.
