Four people died and some others were injured after a car crashed into oncoming traffic on Wednesday in Panola County, Texas.
Troopers were notified of the crash that took place around 10:20 a.m.
The driver of a truck-trailer was traveling south on Texas 315 at the time when a car traveling northeast on the same road hydroplaned on the wet roads into oncoming traffic.
The truck-trailer couldn’t avoid crashing with the car.
The driver and passenger of the truck trailer, identified Isaias Cordero Herrera, 29, of Rio Bravo, Mexico, and Rogelio Flores Almora, were both admitted to UT Health Henderson for treatment but they were later released.
The driver of the car, Jonathan Estrada, 27, of Rio Grande City was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other passengers in Estrada’s car were also pronounced dead at the scene. They include Jacqueline Martinez, 26, of Rio Grande City, a 9-year-old female, and a 4-year-old.
A 9-year-old female child was admitted to UT Health East Texas in Tyler in critical condition.
Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
