As per the latest news coming in, Jaguar may go into the crossover market on their own and stop their brand name of being a saloon-based company alone. This is as per their global brand director Adrian Hallmark.
He has also mentioned about all-wheel drive sedans and a wagon version of the XF being the future plans of the company. Even though the rest of the production cars are something that was expected, however the crossover/SUV plan is something that had not quite been understood.
Sales are no doubt one major factor for his decision. There was a need to step out of the ordinary and then there is the fact that Tata Groups have invested billions in Jaguar-Land Rover without getting much by way of returns as yet.
Given the design and shape of the Jaguar Sedan it is difficult to vision a SUV as its transformed character. There is also the fact that by going this way Jaguar would be stepping upon the shoes of Land Rover. So even though it may not happen, there are all prayers that it should not happen also.
