Police in Europe state they have smashed a worldwide organised criminal gang that stole and trafficked luxury automobiles throughout Europe and North Africa.
Forces from Italy, Spain and Belgium carried out 28 arrests and browsed 29 locations in Italy and Spain, as per the statement.
The gang’s key players were determined as Italian and Moroccan.
They worked together with a huge network of associates across the EU in an advanced operation, police informed.
Authorities seized about 40 cars, an estimated worth of EUR 3 million ($3.37 million), as per Italian police.
Computer systems, fake IDs, and EUR25,000 ($28,100) of counterfeit money were likewise recovered.
Investigations into the gang started in Italy in 2015 after multiple reports from victims of car stealing. Italian authorities identified patterns in the criminal activities and links to incidents in other nations.
Separate investigations were performed in Belgium and Spain.
