McLaren’s MP4-X Formula One concept looks deadly

McLaren has revealed a brand-new idea for a Formula One automobile: the MP4-X. It’s a “vision of the future” that seems deadly, but has a strong focus on safety and security. Along with a heads-up display just like those seen in boxer jets, and tire sensors that caution motorists of imminent blow-outs, the MP4-X includes an enclosed cockpit– an adjustment to F1 layout presently being considered by the sport’s managers to avoid head injuries.

McLaren states that “the modern technology that’s been put on the MP4-X is all real, even if it’s still in its earliest stages of conception,” but some of the car’s features are absolutely much more sci-fi than future science. McLaren suggests that a person day, it can present a brain-controlled driving system, “monitoring the electrical signals within the vehicle driver’s mind” as well as incorporating this with hand gestures to steer the car. “A vehicle with no physical controls whatsoever is a theoretical probability, one geared up with visual gesture control systems or holographic control panel,” states McLaren. “The tech for this type of point is still in its earliest phases– but maybe possible.”
