General Motors CEO Dan Akerson has recently revealed some exciting new details about the next-generation Chevrolet Volt and the good news is that it is expected to be better than its earlier gen models.
Speaking in an interview, Akerson said that the model will comes with a significantly improved electric-only range. Initially he did not reveal much details about this “significantly improved model†, but when later pressed for more information, the executive hinted that the car would be able to travel 50 to 60 miles (80 to 96 km), or possibly even more, on just electricity charge.
If GM is able to achieve these numbers, we have to say that it would be an impressive feat as research shows that 80% of drivers travel less than 40 miles (64 km) per day.
He further confirmed that the next-generation Volt is still about three to four years away and has previously said it could cost USD 7,000 to USD 10,000 less than the 2013 model which starts at USD 39,145 (excluding a destination charge of USD 850).
It is certainly a great news and it has surely created some excitement among the car lovers and also those who support the EV models.
