First Integrated Automated On-Street and Off-Street Reservations Parking into all new BMW Vehicle Lines

Providing the worlds first end-to-end OEM vehicle based parking solution, Parkmobile moves the industry one step closer to frictionless parking and converging the connected vehicle with IoT.

Parkmobile, the top provider of mobile parking and transit solutions in North America, has announced at the 2017 International Parking Institute Annual Conference the availability of its complete platform capabilities as an integrated OEM offering in all new BMW vehicles.  Parkmobile presently allows consumers to find, reserve and pay for parking through a single app in more than 2,000 locations and 250 cities throughout the US and Canada. With this launch, along with reserving parking directly through the car navigation system or companion ParkNow app, BMW drivers can also initiate and pay for on-street and off-street parking throughout the Parkmobile Network.

Leveraging the car navigation system and GPS, when parking on-street or in other Parkmobile enabled locations, BMW cars will prompt motorists to begin a parking session through the dashboard screen seamlessly and without the requirement to either pay a meter or initiate a session via mobile app.  Same as the Parkmobile App, the vehicle will prepopulate the zone based on GPS coordinates, enabling 1-touch parking.  The offering supports the capability to preselect the amount of time a driver desires to purchase, with the ability to manage and extend sessions remotely through the companion ParkNow app or Parkmobile app while away from their vehicle.   In addition, where parking rules permit, the platform supports start-stop parking sessions whereby the parking session terminates automatically when the driver returns to the automobile and commences driving.

Parkmobile’s release of this innovative new service in BMW vehicles follows the successful launch last year of in-dash reservations into the BMW 5 Series line.  “We are extremely proud to partner with BMW to deliver this tremendous innovation in the automotive and parking industries alike.” stated Jon Ziglar, Parkmobile’s CEO.  “By embedding real-time parking payment and advanced reservations capabilities into the automobile itself, we finish the circle of delivering a truly seamless parking experience for drivers in any parking scenario, whether it be on-street, off-street, real-time or in advance.  Moreover, this is a significant step in paving the way for autonomous vehicles of the future to control and manage the end of their journey unassisted.”

Parkmobile allows consumers to find, reserve and pay for parking across the largest network of parking spaces and areas in North America, while empowering public, private and commercial parking owners and operators to maximize efficiency and revenue.  The Parkmobile platform is the most robust, scalable and feature rich parking and mobility engine in the industry, powering end-to-end parking solutions for any need, and integrated into mobile, web and now vehicle-based interfaces.
