As per the latest report, ATS Autosport has bought the rights to the De Tomaso name.
Details of the same are limited as of now but one of the blog sites, Autoblog, is reporting that ATS is in the process to relaunch the brand with an all-new lineup. There’s no word yet from the company on what we can expect but the company did confirm to the website that an announcement regarding the same will be made later this month and future De Tomaso models could share platforms with ATS. To be more specific, the company has hinted that a new Pantera could be based on the ATS 2500 GT.
Just to recap, De Tomaso was revived by former Fiat CEO Gianmario Rossignolo who intended to launch a three model lineup that included a sedan, coupe and a crossover. The company eventually introduced the Deauville concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011 but ran into financial troubles shortly thereafter. Unfortunately the company was put up for sale in 2012 and Rossignolo was taken into custody over allegations that he (along with two others) misused government funds to the tune of 7.5 (approx $9.1 / £5.9) million.
