There were lots of remarkable cars at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, but one of the most impressive was the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé V16, that appearently is used to flashes, cameras and lots of fans, since it starred in the movie Johnny English Reborn with Rowan Atkinson. Appearently, the actor asked Rolls-Royce to let him use one of their Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé V16 for the Johnny English Reborn movie, and the engineers couldn’t resist the charm and obliged, transforming this car into a truly one-of-a-kind.
The engine of the car is derived from BMW’s N73 V12 power plant, and the production version which will be assembled by Germans will be powered by a 6.75-liter V12 engine that produces 453bhp and 720Nm of torque.
Initially, BMW wanted to use a 9.0 liter V16 engine in the Phantom as they had planned the ultimate engine for the ultimate luxury car of the 21st century. Several examples of the V16 were designed and developed, but at the last moment BMW decided to use a more economical V12 engine.
The V16 engine was previously used in the concept Rolls-Royce 100EX.
