Million-Dollar Liquid Natural Gas Car by Maxximus: Video

by Zack Colt

A $1,000,000 super sports car that runs on liquid natural gas (LNG), is in the process of building. Who could build such a thing? Specialty car manufacturer Maxximus. They are the authors of the project named Prodigy, that will be built off the design of the LNG 2000 prototype model and be the world’s first LNG-powered super car.

The company praises the car to have an interiour that equals one of a Rolls Royce, whatever that means, but from what we heard and seen so far, the company is planning to compete with luxury brands like Ferrari, Tesla Motors or Jaguar in terms of style.

The car was designed by Marlon Kirby of Indianapolis over the course of two years, and it is said to produce 1,600 horsepower, getting it from zero to 60 mph in almost two seconds. Kirby also says he’s hoping to hit the 300-mph mark with the vehicle, too.
You might say no one will be interested in buying such an expensive car, but appearently there already are some very wealthy people who are passionate about speed and spending money, according to [PDF].

Not many photos have been released, just a prototype image, and a photo of the LNG 2000 with the billionaire David Bruce McMahan, but we have a video in which you can see glances of the Prodigy and hear the designer talk about it. Enjoy!
