Rumor: Next generation Nissan GT-R will get a hybrid drivetrain

by Alex

Latest rumor regarding the next Nissan GT-R is quite green. Inside Line reports that the mighty Godzilla will get a hybrid version as well when it debuts in 2012 as a 2013 year model.

Power would come from a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 with 440 hp(detuned a bit from today’s 485 hp), with additional 160 hp coming from electric motor.

Combined power output would be 600 horsepower, sent to all four wheels. Expected price is around $100,000.

Because of heavy batteries hybrid GT-R is expected to be heavier than current generation car (1,724 kg / 3,800 lbs). Despite more weight it will be just as quick as current production GT-R with expected fuel economy in the range of 25-30 mpg, which lets face it is the whole point of this green supercar.
