Nissan Motor is pushing back the release date of its electric Ariya B6 SUV again because of a global shortage of semiconductors and other supply chain disruptions.

The Ariya, Nissan’s second EV-only model after the Leaf hatchback, is now set to go on sale on May 12 in Japan. The automaker had most recently flagged a late-March launch.

The Ariya was initially slated for a mid-2021 launch but was delayed due to chip shortages. Sales in Europe are set to start this summer and in the United States in the autumn, the automaker said.

A limited-edition version of the SUV was being sold in Japan as planned in January.
