Nissan extends suspension of Russia factory for 3 months

Nissan will extend its suspension of an assembly plant in Saint Petersberg, Russia, for another three months until late December.

“Production is suspended at St Petersburg until the end of December and employees have been informed. We will keep monitoring the situation closely and will take actions as needed,” a Nissan spokesperson said on Monday.

The plant, which was idled in March after Western sanctions imposed on Russia due to the intensification of the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine on February 2022.

The plant was originally set to resume in September.

The Nissan plant suspension was extended due to ongoing difficulties obtaining components from Europe and Japan.
