Workers of automobile company Skoda Auto Volkswagen, India, which operates a plant in Aurangabad, contributed a day’s salary and raised Rs 1.2 crore ($158,751).

The amount was used to donate 1,388 personal protective equipment (PPE), five ventilators and five multi-paramonitors to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for Covid-19 management.

GMCH Aurangabad is the only state-run committed to fight coronavirus in Aurangabad division. It gets patients from Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli and Aurangabad districts. Furthermore, at any given time, 70% of the Covid-19 patients admitted at the hospital are in a serious condition as the Covid-19 care centers and the dedicated Covid-19 health centers attend to only asymptomatic patients or those having mild symptoms.

In such a situation, the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff ensured that they are properly protected while treating the patients.

GMCH dean Kanan Yelikar said, that the PPE kits provided by the company have ensured needful stock for at least a week.
