Subaru BRZ STI is likely just the BRZ ts concept

Subaru recently released pictures of a BRZ concept with prominent “STi” badging. With this, there were speculationn about an STi variant but ultimately the fact was something else.

Tucked away in the dark recesses of STI’s Japanese website is a little known press release that announced plans to stage the global debut of the BRZ tS concept at the 86 Festival to be held in Japan. It is obvious that the release wasn’t widely distributed, and hence the rumor mill kicked into action as soon as the teaser images surfaced on the net.

The company didn’t have much to say about the BRZ tS but as per one of the reports there will be two production models with sporty styling packages that would include features such as a front lip spoiler, revised side skirts, a carbon fiber rear wing, a Bilstein suspension and Brembo brakes.

Despite the upgrades, both models will reportedly use the common 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generated 200 hp (149 kW) and 151 lb-ft (205 Nm) of torque. The BRZ tS will reportedly go into the production phase somewhere in October and so we can expect to learn more shortly about this upcoming model.
