Tata Mexapixel – First Look

Site DefaultPress Releases13 years ago49 Views

After Tata produced the Nano, the cheapest model in the world, and it turned out to be a failure, the Indians decided to try their luck with the Megapixel concept in Geneva. This hybrid is not planned on entering the production anytime soon, though.

The Tata Megapixel is powered by a tiny 0.0032-liter 1 cylinder engine coupled with 4 electric motors (one for each wheel). Range in all electric mode is 57 miles, and together with the combustion engine it comes to a reasonable 562 miles. Thanks to the really small engine, the fuel economy is an incredible 235 mpg (wow!) and CO2 emissions only 22 g/km.

The Megapixel has “city car” written all over it: it’s small, it can do a 180 degree turns in just 2.8 meters (thank you,  electric motors), the doors slide sideways and the fuel consumption both in the city and on the highway is amazing.

As we said, the Tata Megapixel is unlikely to become available for purchase. If it does, keep in mind that the price of the Nano will probably be multiplied by a few times.
