Three dead after two-vehicle crash on Lakeland Drive in Flowood

Three people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Lakeland Drive in Flowood, Mississippi on Saturday.

A Flowood police officer tried to stop a vehicle for reckless driving on Lakeland Drive. The driver attempted to escape the officer by turning into the shopping center before getting back on the highway.

Police said the officer was not following the vehicle back onto the highway as it entered the wrong way of traffic.

The driver then crashed with an oncoming vehicle. One of the two automobiles overturned by the median.

Three individuals were pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle was taken to the hospital.

The identities of the victims haven’t been released. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
