Three people were killed in a two-car crash Wednesday afternoon in Lewiston, Maine.
One dog was also killed in the crash.
The crash took place in the area of 2075 Lisbon Street in Lewiston around 2:30 p.m., according to the Lewiston Police Department.
One automobile was traveling southbound on Route 196 (Lisbon Street), and the other was traveling inbound.
Lewiston police together with an accident reconstruction expert and a forensic mapper, and also the Lewiston Fire Department responded to the scene.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and a third died at the hospital due to their injuries.
Their names are yet to be released, pending notification of the family.
Police said it speed could have been a contributing factor in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
Lisbon Street at Gayton Road and at Dyer Road were closed due to investigation.
