Toyota Motor President Akio Toyoda on Tuesday stated the company would continue to make a range of vehicle types offered to customers, even as tighter worldwide regulations are prompting automakers to establish more electric vehicles.
“EVs (electric vehicles) remain in focus at the moment however customers and the market will eventually choose which powertrains will achieve success,” he stated at an event to introduce a new line of sports cars.
“Toyota will continue to concentrate on powertrains that concentrate on hybrid technology, including fuel cell vehicles, plug-in hybrids and– although we were a bit late to the game– EVs.”
He also stated Toyota was ruling out focusing only on EVs.
